First of all, welcome to the new layout! Sometimes you just need a change, and I think this layout is a bit more visually appealing.
Second, I’ve decided (and I’m going to try to keep up with this…) to post a “Friday Fave” every week. This is also to help spice up the blog. I’ve only been posting recipes, and sometimes they’re thrilling, but I’m afraid people are going to get bored if that’s all I post! The Friday Fave will consist of a favorite food of mine, a healthy alternative to something, maybe a restaurant review–or a book review. Whatever it is, I think you’ll enjoy it.
My first Friday Fave is a favorite food of mine—the kiwi!
I recently got on a kiwi kick when I saw them on sale at the grocery store. Each week I usually buy some sort of fruit, and usually opt for the ones that happen to be on sale. So I bought a handful of them, and fell in love!
If you’ve never had a kiwi, please try one. They taste like a mixture of bananas and pineapple, but give you more of the aftertaste that a banana would. They’re sweet, and juicy, and easy to eat. Don’t be intimidated by their hairy surface either. The skin is quite edible.
Plus, the kiwi is high in vitamin C, fiber, and potassium. It’s a delicious way to get all of those nutrients in such a small fruit!
Some people are allergic to kiwis. I thought I was the first time I ate them, but then discovered I’m really just sensitive to acidic things. So to avoid irritation on my lips from the fruit, I just cut it up and eat it with a fork.
Don’t want to have a kiwi all on it’s own? Throw it in a fruit salad with the rest of your favorite fruits
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
